About ESET

ESET, an IT security company, was established in 1992 by Peter Pasko and Miroslav Trnka (programming enthusiasts) and their friend Rudolf Hruby. Five years before Pasko and Trnka discovered the "Vienna" virus, one of the world's first computer viruses. They wrote a program to detect it. When many others viruses were discovered they decided to develop software to detect and prevent these computer dangers.

ESET has its headquarters in Bratislava, Slovakia with offices in San Diego, California; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Prague, Czech Republic; Krakow, Poland; Wexford, Ireland; London, United Kingdom and Singapore. It also has distributors in 180 other countries. It has more than 500 employees and its founding members form the company's board.

Awards

For three consecutive years, 2008-2010 ESET was named the most successful Slovak company. It was the first company to receive 60 Vb100 awards. It has also been named one of America's "Fastest-Growing" private companies for the 4th year in a row by Inc. Magazine as well as being ranked number one antivirus by Maximum PC Magazine.

The Products

NOD was ESET's first product which was an antivirus for computers running MS-DOS. In1998 ESET NOD32 was introduced for computers running Microsoft Windows.

In 2007 it released ESET Smart Security which combined ESET NOD32 with antispam and firewall features. ESET Mobile Security provides malware protection, antispam filtering for sms messages, a firewall and anti-theft features (SIM locking and remote wipe) for Windows Mobile users and Symbian OS.

Mission

ESET's founders' vision was to allow the average PC user to have access to advanced technology. "In our beginning, we looked at our job as a service to PC users.
